Mooring permits must be renewed annually by June 30th.
If a mooring is not renewed on time, a late fee will be assessed, the fee is set by the selectboard in the Fee Schedule.
Mooring installation shall be the responsibility of the property owner with the placement location approved by the Harbor Master.
Moorings must comply with all specifications and permits required by the Town and State of Maine.
All mooring anchors shall be made of stone, granite, cured reinforced concrete, or mushroom anchor.
Mooring floats/buoys must be white in color with a blue horizontal stripe as required by State Law.
No mooring shall be placed outside the area of the water safety zone, specifically 200’ from any shore or one third the distance to the opposite shore, whichever is less, or in areas that will create a hazard to watercraft navigation. If special circumstances exist, the placement will be determined by the Harbor Master.
Failure to move a mooring placement or remove a mooring at the order of the Harbor Master is a violation of the Mooring Regulations.
In the event of failure to comply with the Harbor Master’s instructions, the improperly placed mooring will be moved/removed at the owner’s expense.
Mooring floats/buoys must be removed no later than December 1st annually. Failure to remove a mooring by December 1st is a violation of Town Ordinance and may be subject to fees. Mooring floats/buoys may be returned to placement when we have passed Spring thaw.
