The Town of Harrison is an agent of the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) and is authorized to issue new registrations and registration renewals for residents. As a designated “truck town,” we can also process registrations for heavy vehicles, booster permits, and transit plates.

NEW – Order Replacement Vehicle Titles Online
Need a replacement title? This service will provide a quicker response for processing lost titles. You must have the vehicle year, VIN, and mileage. The name, date of birth and driver license number of all owners and a Visa, MasterCard credit or debit card.
Registration Renewals
The Town Office is authorized to renew registrations for a variety of vehicles, including:

Handicapped, antique, and firefighter plates

Motor homes and trucks (same gross weight as previous year)
To renew your registration, you’ll need:

Note: Vehicles 2000 and newer require a Maine title. Titles are not required for vehicles 1999 and older.
Private Sale – What to Bring:

Bill of Sale (with make, VIN, sale date, and amount paid – signed by both parties)

Title (for vehicles 1999 or newer) – properly signed over
- The back of the title must be filled out to the new owner(s) and signed by the previous owner(s).

If You’re Moving to Harrison
From Another Town in Maine
You must update your address with the Secretary of State within 10 days of the change. There is no fee and you must bring your most recent registration to the Town Office.
To change your driver’s license address, contact your local BMV branch.
From Another State
Maine law requires you to register your vehicle within 30 days of establishing residency. Please bring:

The most previous state registration

The vehicle title (or lienholder info if financed) to the vehicle from the previous state where you resided. If your vehicle is financed we need the name and address of your lienholder
