Planning to get married? We’re here to help guide you through the process of obtaining a marriage license in the Town of Harrison.

Please plan ahead.
Processing a marriage license can take up to one hour, and we ask all couples to plan accordingly.

Marriage License Hours

Marriage licenses are issued:
Monday – Friday
9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Or by appointment.

Intentions of Marriage

Before a marriage license can be issued, both parties must complete an Intention of Marriage form.

  • The form must be signed in the presence of an official authorized to take oaths, e.g. Town Clerk or Notary Public.

  • The marriage license is valid for 90 days from the date intentions are filed.

  • No blood test is required.

Filing Fee

$40.00 filing fee is due at the time the intentions are submitted. This fee is filed with the Town Clerk.

If You Were Previously Married

If either party has been married before, a certified copy of the document ending the prior marriage must be presented. The certified copy must be presented to the Clerk prior to the processing of the marriage license:

  • Divorce Decree: Obtain from the Clerk of Courts in the county where the divorce was filed. The document must be certified with an embossed seal. Photocopies are not accepted.

  • Death Certificate: Obtain from the Clerk’s Office in the town or city where the death occurred. The document must be certified with an embossed seal. Photocopies are not accepted.

If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please contact the Clerk’s Office. We’re happy to assist you as you prepare for your special day.
