Keeping our residents, visitors, and properties safe is a top priority for the Town of Harrison. Our commitment to public safety includes emergency medical services, fire protection, law enforcement, and coordinated emergency management.

Harrison is proud to offer one of the finest volunteer fire departments in the State of Maine, along with contracted services through PACE Paramedic, UNITED Ambulance, and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office to ensure comprehensive coverage for all emergency and public safety needs.

Public Safety Resources

  • Burning Permits
    Permits are required for all open burning and must be obtained prior to starting a fire. Paper permits are no longer available at the Town Office or Transfer Station.

Burning Permit Hours:
Weekdays: 5:00 PM – Midnight
Weekends: 9:30 AM – Midnight

  • Ambulance Service
    Emergency medical services in Harrison are provided through contracts with two trusted ambulance providers. Coverage is divided geographically to ensure rapid response and quality care for all residents and visitors.

PACE Paramedic Ambulance Service
Serves the northern end of Harrison.
PACE provides advanced life support, emergency transport, and paramedic-level care in coordination with local fire and law enforcement personnel.
 
Serves the southern end of Harrison.
United offers comprehensive EMS services including emergency medical response and transport, working closely with regional emergency management services.

 

  • Cumberland County Sheriff
    The Town of Harrison contracts with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office to provide professional law enforcement services to our community. A designated patrol officer is assigned specifically to Harrison, ensuring that our town has consistent and responsive coverage for any law enforcement matters that may arise. The Sheriff's Office works closely with local departments and first responders to support public safety, emergency response, and crime prevention.

    The department is composed of trained volunteer firefighters who respond to fire calls, motor vehicle accidents, rescue incidents, and assist in regional emergency events.
